Warzone received an update on May 15 which introduced a long-awaited nerf to the popular Riveter and Tonfa weapons, so here are the full patch notes.

Warzone often features standout meta weapons that significantly take over the game for a period of time. In Season 3 Reloaded, the Tonfa Melee weapon and the Riveter Shotgun emerged as broken options.

After taking over Resurgence lobbies, the devs introduced a new minor update on May 15, including a nerf to both the Riveter and Tonfa, modifying how each weapon works in-game.

Here are the changes to the Tonfa and Riveter as depicted in the patch notes:

  • Riveter
    • .410 Gauge Ball Ammunition
      • Near-Mid Damage decreased to 30, down from 33.
      • Mid Damage decreased to 25, down from 27.
      • *New Damage Range Added*
        • Far-Mid Damage set to 21.
        • Far-Mid Damage range set to 16.51 meters.
      • Min Damage decreased to 15, down from 25.
  • Tonfa
    • It will now take 4 melee hits, up from 3, to eliminate an enemy with full health and 3 armor plates.

Before the May 15 update, the Tonfa could kill fully-plated enemies with just 3 hits.

Prior to the update, the Tonfa was the most popular weapon in the game given its insane damage, hit lock ability, and movement speed – especially in Rebirth Island and the LTM Loaded Resurgence. This led to many players asking the devs to nerf it.

As for the Riveter, this wasn’t the first time that fire ammo Shotguns had a huge impact, as veteran players will recognize its power from previous iterations of Warzone. The Riveter was another popular pick for most players who wanted to dominate close encounters.
