MW3 players claim Shipment has “ruined” other maps

Shipment is one of the most beloved maps in Call of Duty history, but some MW3 players are now thinking that it has “ruined” the perception of what a good map is.

The Modern Warfare 3 launch saw the franchise dial back to the original 2009 MW2 as it features plenty of beloved legacy maps. It continues to add more maps with every season, and some of the latest additions have also quickly become all-timers.

Over the years, though, there hasn’t been a map more revered than Shipment, and that’s partly because of how small it is, resulting in quick and chaotic rounds, perfect for grinding camos and leveling guns

But players now think that other maps are starting to feel big because they’re used to Shipment’s tiny size. Reddit user ‘2006gto1234’ pointed this out on the ModernWarfareIII subreddit calling out players who think that Skidrow is a big map.

The OP wrote, “I noticed someone say the other day that Skidrow is ‘too big for 6v6’ and it just got me wondering how we got to the point that Skidrow is considered a big map.” Because of this, they think that eventually, “Shoot House will be considered big.”

Many agreed that Skidrow shouldn’t be considered a small map: “Parts of Skidrow are pretty under utilized but it’s far from the comedy of Rundown or Wasteland.” Meanwhile, another user said that after “weeks of grinding Shipment and Meat for camos” playing any other maps “feels slow.”

Another user blamed Warzone, as many players view “multiplayer as a means to level up their weapons and get camos,” and Shipment is a perfect map for it, and if that’s the only map you play, other maps will undoubtedly start to feel big. 

Others noted flaws in big maps because of certain game designs: “For a game with high TTK, super fast movement, and high visual recoil, people are gonna just snipe in large maps.”

MW3 features plenty of different sizes of maps, and it will continue to diversify in the upcoming updates. Regardless, maps and their size have always been a divisive topic in the community and it appears the same is true for MW3 as well.
