Snaking has become a popular movement technique in Modern Warfare 3, but players later discovered a new exploit dubbed “snaking 2.0.” Now, after the trick began taking over MW3 matches, Sledgehammer Games have responded.

Modern Warfare 3 players are always looking for ways to gain the upper hand on their opponents, whether it’s running the best weapons or adjusting their controller settings. With all of the movement changes in this year’s game, using different tricks is also a great way to outsmart an enemy.

Since MW3 launched, snaking has joined slide canceling as one of the main techniques, helping high-skilled players pick out the locations of the other team while making them harder to hit.

However, Modern Warfare 3 players later discovered a new exploit that takes snaking to a new level and Sledgehammer Games were quick to respond.

The trick was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the ‘Pullze Check’ podcast account, after being discovered by streamer ‘OmiT Sage.’ The clip showed a player rapidly sliding across the ground while prone, just like an actual snake.

For the player watching the exploit in action, the enemy appears to be slithering across the ground at full speed, making them tough to hit. Meanwhile, on the ‘snakes’ screen, they are running as normal but slightly sunk into the ground.

The community quickly dubbed the exploit “snaking 2.0,” and although it can only be performed on mouse and keyboard, many were desperate for a fix. Popular streamer ModernWarzone was among those asking the devs to put a stop to it, joking that players who use a mouse and keyboard don’t need “any more advantages.”

Luckily, it didn’t take long for Sledgehammer Games to respond, as they have reassured fans that they are looking into finding a fix for the new snaking technique.

“We’re investigating an exploit that allows players to sprint while appearing in the prone animation,” said the devs.

At the time of writing, the issue is still marked as “investigating” on the official MW3 Trello board. But since the team is aware of the “snaking 2.0” problem, it shouldn’t be too long before a fix is released in-game.
