MW3 players call for simple change to stop teammates ‘stealing’ executions

Modern Warfare 3 players can add a bit of flair to their kills with Finishing Moves, flashy executions that assert dominance over the enemy. However, some in the community are begging for a simple change to stop an execution kill from being stolen during the lengthy animation.

Modern Warfare 3 players have plenty of tools at their disposal, from arming themselves with the best weapons and meta loadouts to powerful Killstreaks like a Chopper Gunner that can quickly turn the tide of a match.

But, sometimes fans want to rub a little salt in the wounds of their opponents, and the game features a number of ways to rack up kills while also taunting the enemy. One of the most popular ways to do so is Finishing Moves, showy and often brutal takedowns that can only performed by getting behind an unsuspecting foe.

However, these kills can be stolen from under a player’s nose, and the community is begging the devs to make a simple change to prevent it.

Reddit user ‘kurdi1128’ post a clip of exactly that happening to them along with the caption: “It should be illegal to kill steal finishing moves.”

The video showed a killcam where the OP was The Boys’ Homelander’s laser eyes takedown, only for a teammate to claim the kill before they could land the final blow.

Most executions in MW3 feature a pretty lengthy animation that lasts a few seconds, during which both players can still take damage from elsewhere. Plenty of other players responded to the thread, sharing their own experiences of having Finishing Moves stolen from them and explaining how to fix it.

I think the person being killed should be immune to all bullet damage while it’s happening,” said one reply, with another agreeing: “They should make [it] so who you’re finishing can’t be killed while in animation, but you can still be killed (ie saving teammates from the finishers).”

This seems to be a pretty common issue in MW3 multiplayer, with some fans even claiming it has prevented them from completing important challenges.

“Sigh….yeah I am trying to do the Week 2 challenge (get 10) and everyone always steals my kills,” added another reply. “It’s an unspoken rule not to disturb someone’s assassination. Have you no honor people!?”

Finishing Moves are a long-running feature in Call of Duty, but this problem has been around ever since they were introduced. Only time will tell if the devs decide to make enemies invulnerable during the animation to reduce the risk of the kill being stolen.
