Modern Warfare 3 Zombies is set to be a fresh take on the classic mode with new features like story missions and open-world gameplay to explore. Players will be able to experience a unique narrative in the Modern Warfare 3 Zombies mode.

Modern Warfare 3 will mark the debut of the Zombies mode within the Modern Warfare series. The classic Call of Duty mode is a staple of the franchise, that brings both thrilling gameplay and a compelling narrative.

The devs are looking to expand on that combination with Modern Warfare 3’s fresh take on the Zombies mode that is set to bring DMZ-like gameplay, story missions, narrative progression, and cinematics for players to enjoy.

With Zombies coming to the Modern Warfare series for the first time, it’s only natural that it arrives with some new features. In a preview blog for Modern Warfare 3, the devs shed some light on what to expect from the MW3 Zombies experience.

MW3 Zombies to bring missions & open-world gameplay

While the mode will feature classic survival gameplay and the story aspect that players have come to expect, this time it will also deliver on the sandbox aspect, akin to DMZ and Outbreak.

The devs explained that they aim to offer a premium player journey for players to explore on top of the mode’s traditional features: “Ready up for an open-world player versus enemy (PvE) extraction survival experience against some of the biggest enemies in Call of Duty history.”

There’s no doubt that Modern Warfare 3 Zombies will have plenty of secrets to uncover and players will do so by working their way through the story as well as PvE gameplay that is expected to take place on a massive map: “For the first time, team up with other squads to survive and fight massive hordes of the undead in the largest Call of Duty Zombies map ever.”

Players will have the opportunity to complete missions while playing Zombies in MW3, which will lead to story advancement in the game.

Furthermore, the devs have explained that this Zombies experience is not meant to be completed in one playthrough. While we don’t have all of the details to understand what this entails, players will likely have to use the exfil feature to save their progress and build toward completing the narrative.
