The Modern Warfare 3 Season 3 update is live, bringing yet another Ranked Play reset. This has left many players wondering how it affects their Skill Division, so here’s everything you need to know about the MW3 Ranked Play reset.

Modern Warfare 3 Ranked Play features the same rules and regulations that pros have to contend with, giving you a taste of competitive gameplay as you try to climb the Skill Divisions.

Each new season of MW3 brings a ranked reset, pushing back your Skill Division. So, Here’s everything you need to know about the MW3 Ranked Play reset in Season 3.

How does MW3 Ranked Play reset work?

Modern Warfare 3 players are dropped back three Tiers in Ranked Play at the start of each season, this equates to one full Skill Division. This is based on where they finish, not their highest Skill Division of the season.

For example, if a player is in Gold 2 when Season 2 rolls out, they will be pushed back to Silver 2. However, the highest that a player can begin after the reset is Diamond 1, meaning that Top 250 and Iridescent players fall back even further.

Here’s a rundown of how the MW3 Ranked reset works:

  • Bronze → Bronze 1
  • Silver 1 → Bronze 1
  • Gold 1 → Silver 1
  • Platinum 1 → Gold 1
  • Diamond 1 → Platinum 1
  • Crimson → Diamond 1
  • Iridescent → Diamond 1
  • Top 250 → Diamond 1

Luckily, the Modern Warfare 3 Ranked Play reset doesn’t affect a player’s Rank. These are based on the total number of wins they’ve managed and carry over between seasons, so while you may have to work back up the Skill Divisions, your Rank will be left intact.

The reset is designed to level the playing field with each new season and give those in the higher Skill Divisions a new reason to continue grinding.
