Call of Duty players have been desperate to see detailed gun stats and Sledgehammer Games confirmed Modern Warfare 3 will feature the fan-favorite feature when showing off the new Aftermarket Parts feature.

Led by Sledgehammer Games, Modern Warfare 3‘s design philosophy looks to have been inspired by player feedback, taking on board complaints from the last few years. With the game featuring fan-favorite maps from MW2 2009, the classic minimap, increased health, and faster movement, it looks to be the Call of Duty game that players were waiting for.

With Call of Duty Next and the beta taking place in early October, the devs have started showing more and more of the game’s multiplayer. On October 2, Sledgehammer Games showcased the new Aftermarket Parts feature which lets players completely change how a weapon behaves.

In this video, we can clearly see the “Show Detailed Stats” option in the Gunsmith, a feature that was missing in Modern Warfare 2 but players were desperate to see.

Back in Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard, these detailed stat pages showed exactly how much your attachments changed the weapon’s damage, range, fire rate, movement speed, recoil control, and more.

Modern Warfare 2 brought even more customization options with the weapon tuning feature, so the detailed stats offered in both Cold War and Vanguard were sorely missed. Modern Warfare 3 should also feature tuning as weapons carry over.

How detailed Modern Warfare 3’s weapon stats will be remains to be seen, but we’ll likely get a much better picture once players have full access to the multiplayer beta.

Much of Modern Warfare 3’s marketing has been how it improves on Modern Warfare 2, and this useful feature will surely come in handy for the Gunsmith enthusiasts out there. In the meantime, you can check out all of the leaked weapons ahead of the full reveal.
