Call of Duty players are hoping a Black Ops 2 remake is on the cards after noticing major changes in the timeline ahead of Black Ops 6.

Call of Duty fans are eager to get their hands on Black Ops 6, which not only introduces the revolutionary omnidirectional movement, but also impacts the Black Ops timeline.

Speaking of which, when CharlieIntel was invited to Treyarch and shown a game timeline, Black Ops 2’s 2025 missions were absent. Only the 1989 flashback missions in Black Ops 2 were present.

Further, every Call of Duty: Black Ops game website now redirects you to Black Ops 6’s page, apart from Black Ops 2’s.

This, alongside the absence of BO2’s 2025 missions on the game timeline, has left players speculating and hoping that a Black Ops 2 remake is on the cards.

Under Charlie Intel’s post regarding the Black Ops game websites, the comments are filled with players speculating about a remake for Black Ops 2.

Nothing has been confirmed, and a remake is pretty hopeful considering we haven’t seen one since Modern Warfare Remastered back in 2016. Instead, others believe it could be hinting at Call of Duty 2025, which is rumored to be a sequel to Black Ops 2.

In the comments of CI’s post, one user made it clear that “MW3 is right before 2025,” and as the Modern Warfare and Black Ops universes are now connected, perhaps the devs will have to change the dates in Black Ops 2 for things to make more sense canonically.

We’ll have to see what happens in the future, but for now, the main focus is on Black Ops 6, which certainly takes influence from its predecessors. We’ll learn more about the upcoming title at Call of Duty Next, which is set for August 2024.
