The Gulag is one of the best features that separates CoD: Warzone from all other Battle Royales. The ability to 1v1 your way back into the fight is an exciting and intense part of every round of Warzone.

Over the past five Warzone seasons, the Gulag has changed its appearance to keep these 1v1s fresh. Despite a cosmetic change, the rules of the Gulag have never changed. You have to win the fight or get sent home.

Gulag fights can be the most memorable part of a Warzone game. And long-time players likely have fond memories of the first Gulag map. Now, for the last time in Verdansk, players can battle it out in a Gulag inspired by the original Gulag map in Warzone Season 6.

When you enter the Warzone Season 6 Gulag, you might get a sense of deja vu. No, you aren’t back in Season 1 of Modern Warfare, but you will recognize the new Gulag map.

Activision detailed everything new that would be coming to Warzone Season 6 in a Call of Duty blog. The blog includes details regarding new POIs, weapons, and the new Gulag map. All of which would be available at the start of Warzone Season 6 on October 7.

“Ready to relive your first Gulag duels? Season Six’s Gulag is inspired by the original trio of 1v1 maps within the Verdansk of 2019, and based on the Modern Warfare® Gunfight map variant. This takes place in an undisclosed and sectioned-off level of the deep Zordaya Prison Complex,” the Call of Duty Blog stated.

We have no further details regarding the throwback Gulag, but we can expect it to exude 2019 Warzone vibes. The blog post was also titled “Prepare for the Final Showdown,” which means we are looking at the last Warzone season to take place in Verdansk, as CoD: Vanguard will be bringing a new Pacific map to the Call of Duty battle royale.
