The Warzone 2 May 31 update brought long-awaited nerfs to both the Cronen Squall and ISO Hemlock, and CoD guru JGOD has revealed the weapons he thinks could replace them as the meta options ahead of Season 4.

Warzone 2 has dozens of different weapons to choose from, all of which cater to different playstyles. From deadly SMGs that thrive in close-quarters fights to Sniper Rifles capable of picking off enemies at a distance, there’s a gun for every scenario.

But there’s always a handful of options that emerge as the best weapons in Warzone 2, as the community discovers the meta picks. In Warzone 2 Season 3, these have been the ISO Hemlock Assault Rifle and the new Cronen Squall.

However, the Warzone 2 May 31 patch hit both weapons with a nerf, leaving their fate as the meta weapons up in the air. Luckily, CoD expert JGOD has hinted at which guns could replace them at the top of the rankings.

In his May 31 video, JGOD explained that the reduction in damage handed to the ISO Hemlock will make it far less effective and open the door for other Assault Rifles to take its crown.

“I think this next [nerf] will impact it where it adds an extra shot to kill, probably pushing it a little further on the TTK, making it even slower,” said the YouTuber. “That’s going to give the advantage to maybe the Lachmann-556 or the Kastov 545.”

That being said, while JGOD felt that the Hemock is probably out of the equation going forward, he questioned whether the nerfs to the Cronen Squall will have a large effect. He believed that reducing the Battle Rifle’s fire rate might actually lower the recoil, making it easier to land shots with.

With this in mind, the content creator was torn between two weapons when it comes to the best gun in Warzone 2 going forward.

“I’m leaning towards the Lachmann-556 if these are noticeable,” JGOD said. “If these aren’t noticeable, [it’s] still going to be the Cronen. At the end of the day, it just does too much damage, but we’ll see if this was enough.”

He also mentioned that the World Series of Warzone is back underway, so players can take a look at the weapons being used by pro players to determine what the new meta is as Warzone 2 Season 4 approaches.
