With the Modern Warfare 2 beta now behind us, the devs will look to make changes to the game ahead of launch. Here’s a breakdown of Infinity Ward’s latest statement that highlights the changes arriving to Modern Warfare 2 at launch.

Following the conclusion of the Modern Warfare 2 beta, Infinity Ward will have approximately one month to produce the final product. Given the player feedback and data accumulated from the beta, Infinity Ward will focus on getting Modern Warfare 2 ready for launch.

In order to bring players up to speed, the devs released a statement highlighting their biggest takeaways from the Modern Warfare 2 beta. Here are changes you could expect to see in Modern Warfare 2 come October 28.

With Dead Silence as a Field Upgrade, and no Ninja Perk in Modern Warfare 2, one of the biggest player complaints from the beta was the loud footstep audio. Infinity Ward acknowledged this and made changes for weekend two of the beta.

Now, the devs confirm that more changes are on the way prior to launch as they continue to balance Modern Warfare 2’s footstep audio.

Devs aim to improve Modern Warfare 2 visibility

Following footstep audio, visibility was another major concern for players as they found it difficult to spot enemy players as well as differentiate foes from friendlies without nametags.

The devs made changes to improve visibility while players fired their weapons, and it’s likely that they’ll continue to tweak this visual issue ahead of launch.

However, they did confirm that they’d be looking for a solution “that is not solely the traditional nameplate.”

SBMM and disbanding lobbies were another major talking point among players who tested the Modern Warfare 2 beta. Players are crying out for traditional Call of Duty lobbies that stick together after each match, as opposed to disbanding.

While the devs addressed this in their previous community update, they feel “this is an important feature and are actively looking for potential solutions for launch.”

Of course, there was no mention of SBMM, but we’ll have to wait and see if they decide to scrap disbanding lobbies in Modern Warfare 2.

Modern Warfare 2 weapon balancing & bug fixes

While the beta only delivered a limited selection of weapons, the devs were happy with the overall balance in Modern Warfare 2. Despite their positive reaction, they’ll still look to make changes when it comes to weapon performance if necessary.

Fixing bugs prior to launch is one of the biggest benefits of having players test out a beta version of Modern Warfare 2.

Players could expect bug fixes to address issues with third-person camera shoulder-swapping, as well as Modern Warfare 2’s Ground War experience: “we have many bugs to work through in both of our Battle Map modes. We also have some improvements coming for AI navigation for Invasion.”
