However, the arrival of new updates tends to bring a few issues that need to be patched up, and Modern Warfare 2 players are facing error 2901 when trying to play the game. Luckily, there are a few workarounds to help you resolve this issue.

Error code 2901 pops up for players when trying to start up Modern Warfare 2, causing the game to either freeze or crash. This can happen for different reasons, such as a poor internet connection or corrupted game files.

Restart the game

Here’s what to do:

  1. Press the home button on either your Xbox or PlayStation controller, and head back to your console’s main screen.
  2. Select Modern Warfare 2.
  3. Press Start.
  4. Select Close Application.
  5. Restart Modern Warfare 2.

Check your internet connection

If you have a poor internet connection then you may encounter Modern Warfare 2 error code 2901. If this is the case then you can try unplugging your router for around 20 seconds before restarting it.

Here’s what you should do:

  1. Open Steam and visit your Library.
  2. Select Modern Warfare 2.
  3. Right-click the game and select Properties.
  4. Select Local Files.
  5. Click on Verify Integrity of Game Files.

Update your graphics drivers
