Use Double XP Tokens
Twice the amount of normal XP is always a great way to rack up ranks fast. Completing the Modern Warfare 2 campaign awards you three hours of Double XP and three hours of Double Weapon XP.

Playing Invasion
A simple method that players have been incorporating into their gameplay to level up quickly and boost XP for guns is to play Invasion.
During a game, if you keep throwing down Tactical Insertions you’ll get XP for spawns. Furthermore, you should concentrate your fire on AI soldiers as you still get a lot of XP for taking them down. These two tactics together combine seamlessly to rack up serious scores and bundles of XP for faster ranking up.
Kill Confirmed, Dog Tags & Decoys
Another sneaky tactic you could use is the Kill Confirmed and Decoy method that allows you to build up mad XP for not even playing well.
Simply, keep throwing down Decoys around combat-heavy areas of the map and you’ll get XP from enemy players firing on them. Also, concentrate all your energy on collecting fallen opposition players’ Dog Tags.
Even if you have a bad game in terms of your kill-to-death ratio, going out of your way to collect tags will do wonders for your player level.

To level up a gun you want a sustained match with a myriad of enemies to hunt down and kill, and Ground War ticks all of these boxes.
