Modern Warfare 2’s HCR 56 is an LMG from the Bruen Bullpup weapon platform that’s reminiscent of the AUG from previous titles. If you’ve got this weapon in your sights, here is the best HCR 56 loadout in Modern Warfare 2 Season 5.

Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 has several long-range options, whether players prefer Snipers, Marksman Rifles, Battle Rifles, or heavy LMGs that pack a punch.

The HCR 56 is most certainly the latter, showcasing a good damage rating, great range, and best-in-class handling. For those looking to take advantage of the HCR 56 LMG, here’s our best loadout for it, as well as how players can unlock the weapon.

Best Modern Warfare 2 HCR 56 loadout attachments

  • Barrel: 18″ Bruen Guerilla
  • Muzzle: Sakin Tread-40
  • Rear Grip: Bruen Q900 Grip
  • Optic: SZ Sigma-IV Optic
  • Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper 56

First off, the most important part of this Modern Warfare 2 HCR 56 loadout is the 18″ Bruen Guerilla Barrel, as this attachment will greatly increase your accuracy with the weapon, providing recoil control and aim-down-sight speed.

As the HCR 56’s recoil is fairly difficult to control, the FTAC Ripper 56 Underbarrel and Sakin Tread-40 muzzle will also help reduce the recoil, allowing you to stay on target.

To counter the loss of ADS and movement speed from the barrel and muzzle, the Bruen Q900 Grip will increase aim-down-sight speeds and sprint-to-fire speeds, allowing you to be slightly more nimble with the LMG.

Lastly, the iron sights aren’t the best on the HCR 56, so the SZ Sigma-IV Optic is a nice, clean sight for you to see the enemies clearly.

Best Perks & Equipment for Modern Warfare 2 HCR 56 Loadout

  • Base Perk 1: Bomb Squad
  • Base Perk 2: Battle Hardened
  • Bonus Perk: Fast Hands
  • Ultimate Perk: Quick Fix
  • Tactical Equipment: Flash Grenade
  • Lethal Equipment: Frag Grenade
  • Field Upgrade: Dead Silence

As for Perks, we’ve gone for Battle Hardened and Bomb Squad, as with this LMG you may find yourself holding down lines of sight and positions of power due to its lack of mobility, and enemies may try and flush you out with Equipment.

We’ve chosen Fast Hands as our Bonus Perk, as the HCR 56 has a pretty slow reload thanks to its massive 60-round magazine. Finally, for the Ultimate Perk we found Quick Fix to be extremely useful, especially after players have discovered Ghost’s weaknesses.

Then for Equipment, you’re going to want to use the trusty Frag and Flash Grenade, as you really can’t go wrong with these two. Lastly, the Dead Silence Field Upgrade can provide you with a much-needed boost in speed with the HCR 56, as well as some stealth.

How to unlock the HCR 56 in Modern Warfare 2

In order to unlock the HCR 56 in Modern Warfare 2, players must first reach Rank 41 to unlock the STB 556. Then, players will need to get the STB 556 to weapon level 20, which will unlock the HCR 56.

This can be quite the grind, so if you’re looking to unlock the HCR 56 as fast as possible, make sure you check out our guide to ranking up fast.

Best HCR 56 alternatives in Modern Warfare 2

The Modern Warfare 2 HCR 56 is essentially the LMG version of the STB 556, so it’s naturally a great AR alternative.

If you’d prefer to use another LMG, both the RAAL MG and the 556 Icarus are also great alternatives to the HCR 56.
