How to level up fast in Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 Reloaded: Rank, Weapons & Operators

Modern Warfare 2 players want to level up in order to unlock the game’s best gear quickly, and we’ve provided some quick tips that will help you level up fast in Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 Reloaded.

As usual, Infinity Ward have provided Call of Duty players with a ton of stuff to unlock and work towards as they battle through intense matches of Modern Warfare 2, including powerful weapons, Perks, and Equipment.

Use Double XP Tokens

Twice the amount of normal XP is always a great way to rack up ranks fast. Completing the Modern Warfare 2 campaign awards you three hours of Double XP and three hours of Double Weapon XP.

Players that pre-ordered the Vault Edition are entitled to ten hours’ worth of Double XP and Double Weapon XP tokens if they purchased it through the CoD store. Also, CDL viewership rewards also provide Double XP tokens. The bad news is that Double XP tokens you earn in Warzone 2 don’t carry over to Modern Warfare 2.

Play during Double XP events

If you’ve run out of tokens then fear not as Activision will regularly run Double XP events all year round, and there’s one now for the new update which runs from December 14 – December 19 across all platforms.

We’ll be sure to update you when the next one begins. You won’t need to do anything yourself other than log on and barrel through a ton of games of Modern Warfare 2 to maximize the opportunity during the Double XP event.

Don’t rage quit online multiplayer matches

We know this sounds easier than it is, but the temptation to hastily leave a match when things aren’t going your way is very easy, but also very costly.

Even if you’re having a bad game or your team is getting smoked, make sure you gut it out and claim your match bonus at the end.

Play Objective-based game modes

Team-based objective modes are probably more ideal than game modes that require more from an individual as even if you’re not the world’s greatest Call of Duty player, you can still get XP for your efforts.

We recommend passive playlist options such as Hardpoint, Headquarters, and Domination as these are great ways of earning XP as a team.

Complete challenges

From beginner challenges requiring you to get your first Killstreak to more advanced tasks like dropping 30 kills in one game for a Nuke, there is a whole range of challenges for you to complete in Modern Warfare 2.

Focusing on these challenges will earn you tons of XP so that you can level up fast, so we recommend making time for them the next time you hop into Modern Warfare 2.

Revive fallen comrades

Let’s face it, you should be doing this anyway, but we’re gonna make sure that we hammer home the point – be a team player!

In any game mode you play in which you can revive a downed teammate, you should be actively looking to do so for two reasons. Number one, it’s the right thing to do, and number two, reviving them gets them up, getting them up gives you more allies, more allies increase your chances of victory, and victory gets you more XP.

Plus, reviving someone gets you XP as well.

Playing Invasion

A simple method that players have been incorporating into their gameplay to level up quickly and boost XP for guns is to play Invasion.

During a game, if you keep throwing down Tactical Insertions you’ll get XP for spawns. Furthermore, you should concentrate your fire on AI soldiers as you still get a lot of XP for taking them down. These two tactics together combine seamlessly to rack up serious scores and bundles of XP for faster ranking up.

Kill Confirmed, Dog Tags & Decoys

Another sneaky tactic you could use is the Kill Confirmed and Decoy method that allows you to build up mad XP for not even playing well.

Simply, keep throwing down Decoys around combat-heavy areas of the map and you’ll get XP from enemy players firing on them. Also, concentrate all your energy on collecting fallen opposition players’ Dog Tags.

Even if you have a bad game in terms of your kill-to-death ratio, going out of your way to collect tags will do wonders for your player level.

Play Ground War matches

To level up a gun you want a sustained match with a myriad of enemies to hunt down and kill, and Ground War ticks all of these boxes.

Big maps are littered with many enemy soldiers and you can also be earning passive XP for holding objectives, all the while capturing and defending them in the process.

PlayStation Party Bonus

A huge benefit to playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PlayStation is that players who party up can revel in 25% bonus weapon XP just for simply playing the game together.

Complete Operator challenges

Most Modern Warfare 2 Operators have individual challenges to complete such as progressing through campaign missions or getting a certain number of kills during a match.

Don’t become too attached to your Operators as you should max them out, suck all the XP you can out of them, and then move on to the next one.
