Modern Warfare 2’s 556 Icarus is a powerful LMG that can dominate multiplayer lobbies with its efficiency. However, you’ll need the best attachments, Perks, and Equipment to take advantage of this weapon. Here’s the best 556 Icarus loadout in Modern Warfare 2 Season 5.

Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 has some great new weapons to choose from, but the LMG category is arguably one of the most fun in the game, with huge magazines and devastating damage at the cost of mobility.

One of the best LMGs in the game is the 556 Icarus, which is in the M4 weapon platform. This weapon is the most mobile and arguably the most versatile in the LMG category, so for those looking to take advantage of its power, here’s the best Modern Warfare 2 556 Icarus loadout.

Best Modern Warfare 2 556 Icarus loadout attachments

  • Muzzle: Corvus Slash Gen. 2
  • Barrel: FTAC Coldforge 16″ Barrel
  • Laser: SZ 1MW PEQ
  • Optic: SZ Sigma-IV Optic
  • Stock: Ravage-8

We’ve built the 556 Icarus for long-range engagements, so for starters, we’ve gone with the Corvus Slash Gen 2. to prevent some muzzle flash and help with the Icarus’ recoil, allowing you to stay on target.

The FTAC Coldforge 16″ Barrel will increase the weapon’s damage range, hip fire accuracy, and bullet velocity, which greatly improves the efficiency at which you put enemies down at range.

To counter some of the loss of mobility due to the barrel, the Ravage-8 stock brings back some aim-down-sight speed, sprint speed, and crouch movement speed.

Lastly, the SZ Sigma-IV Optic is a nice clean sight in Modern Warfare 2‘s multiplayer, and the SZ 1MW PEQ laser will add some aiming stability.

The 556 Icarus is a reliable LMG in Modern Warfare 2 Season 5.

Best Perks & Equipment for Modern Warfare 2 556 Icarus loadout

  • Base Perk 1: Bomb Squad
  • Base Perk 2: Battle Hardened
  • Bonus Perk: Fast Hands
  • Ultimate Perk: Birdseye
  • Tactical Equipment: Flash Grenade
  • Lethal Equipment: Frag Grenade
  • Field Upgrade: Dead Silence

Both Bomb Squad and Battle Hardened have become essential Perks in the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, especially with the amount of equipment being thrown around, offering some protection against Frags, Drill Charges, and Stuns.

Fast Hands is a great bonus Perk for the 556 Icarus, as it increases the reload speed of the weapon greatly. Lastly, Birdseye is a great Ultimate Perk to run, allowing you to gain more intel from the minimap.

For Equipment, we’ve chosen the Flash and Frag Grenades, which are both staples in CoD multiplayer so it’s hard to go wrong with these picks. Lastly, for the Field Upgrade, we’ve decided to go with Dead Silence for the added mobility, which the LMG lacks.

How to unlock the 556 Icarus in Modern Warfare 2

The 556 Icarus in Modern Warfare 2 is unlocked by getting the M4 to Weapon Level 18. Luckily the M4 is unlocked right away, so you won’t have to wait around much.

Reaching Weapon Level 13 on the Icarus will unlock the M16, a classic burst AR that packs a punch in MW2.

Best 556 Icarus alternatives in Modern Warfare 2

The RAAL MG is a great alternative to the 556 Icarus in Modern Warfare 2, as it also possesses a huge mag and high damage that can take out multiple targets in quick succession.

If you fancy something less heavy, you can’t go wrong with the M4, which is in the same weapon platform as the Icarus.
