While players are still getting a feel of everything fixed in Baldur’s Gate 3 Hotfix 20, some are still experiencing a glitch that “softlocks” every Honour mode playthrough.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has had a couple of hotfixes since Patch 6 was released, especially after players complained about some major game-breaking bugs that were interfering with their playthroughs. While Larian Studios tried to address the most urgent, there’s one that has been mainly affecting Honour mode runs.

In a Reddit post called “Honor mode softlock? Karlach and SH slipped off the lift,” fans described that lifts don’t seem to recognize party members when they are moving. This leads to companions falling into chasms, or even being knocked down to unreachable places.

“This happened to me in Act 2, right before Ketheric. The life killed two of my party members, and I was extremely f*cked for that fight,” commented one player. Other users quickly chimed in with their experience, describing similar situations in the Gauntlet of Shar’s quest and other regions of the Underdark.

While users wait for Larian Studios to fix this bug, they’ve shared ways to bypass this error to help players stuck in their Honour mode runs. Since most described that the lift bug only knocks down players, they recommend using a Short Rest and then fast-traveling to other regions to reunite the characters.

In case the game doesn’t let the player use Waypoints, or they’re simply out of short rests, there are a few other options. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans suggest players to respec the surviving character as a Bard, and then use the “Song of Rest” skill to revive characters.

Other experienced Honour mode players even suggested checking every lift before taking it, and recommend to ungroup the party to send them on their way separately. “Imagine being a part of a grand journey with peril at every corner, and people who will become your closest friends…and you die cause you slipped off a lift,” joked a fan.

And that’s how the Baldur’s Gate 3 community recommends avoiding Honour mode game-breaking bug. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ RPG, you can check how to trigger Shadowheart’s secret cutscene in Act 1, and why fans think Orin might be the true hero of the game.
