BG3 player warns against dialogue choice that could instantly end your Honour Mode run

Baldur’s Gate 3 choices can be very delicate, especially because a lot of seemingly meaningless ones can lead to absolute disaster. In Honour Mode, this can be even worse, and players have warned against a choice that could lead to the end of your run.

The dialogue choices in Baldur’s Gate 3 are the main way you are going to choose the fate of your party. A lot of the time, though, the game won’t warn you of the chaos you sew depending on those choices.

In Honour Mode, you need to be careful of what you decide. Preparing for fights in this challenging difficulty is of upmost importance, and when you get surprised, it can mean the end of your run.

One player almost learned this lesson the hard way, and took to Reddit to warn others of a dialogue choice that led to complete annihilation way too early in the game. “Don’t say ‘No Father’ at the coronation,” ‘space_loner’ said, with only a picture of their entire party on the edge of death to show what could happen if you do.

When you first meet with Gortash in Baldur’s Gate 3, it is at his coronation. While you can try and kill him here, a lot of players tend to wait until they’re a little more prepared and have disabled the Steel Watch beforehand.

If you are playing as Wyll, then there is a dialogue option that can start this fight way earlier than you may want. As the Duke of Ravengard is being held captive by Gortash, and this brings up a lot of emotions for Wyll.

Be careful if you say “No, father,” as this could likely unleash the power of Gortash and his Steel Watch on you with no real warning. The coronation is, after all, not where you are meant to fight him, and if you do, you also won’t be able to save Wyll’s dad.

This shared piece of information caused other players to share the fights they think you should give a skip in Honour Mode, including Raphael and Ansur.

“Would recommend anybody to skip [Ansur] in their run, if they don’t want to risk it. So far it was the most dangerous fight I’ve encountered (very deadly, even with the enormous amount of preparation I did),” a player commented.

The conclusion players made was that sometimes, especially in Honour Mode, you don’t have to take the fight. You can live peacefully (for a while) and still save Baldur’s Gate from the Netherbrain – just make good choices.
