The Sussur Bloom Tree in Baldur's Gate 3

A Baldur’s Gate 3 player has discovered an easy way to get past the turrets you find by the Arcane Tower by using Sussur Blooms.

The Arcane Tower in Baldur’s Gate 3 is located in the Underdark. It is a little hidden, but once you find it, you also find you have to get past turrets in order to solve the Tower puzzle and climb it.

The turrets do a significant amount of damage, so it can be tricky to get past this area. Players often use invisibility potions on party members to sneak past the turrets, but sometimes you don’t have access to that, and you have to go into turn-based mode and hope for the best.

Now, a player has discovered a clever trick using Sussur Blooms to deactivate the turrets so you can walk past safely. Sussur Blooms are a kind of flower you come across in the Underdark. They dampen magical properties, and as a result, they would also temporarily deactivate the magical turrets.

All you need to do is throw a Sussur Bloom at the foot of the turret, and it shuts down. Redditor ‘liminaldrifter’ shared this hack in a post, saying, “Probably a little late to the party but had a good aha moment tonight. Love this game.”

The OP did take some damage in their video, and Baldur’s Gate 3 fans helped with some advice on how to avoid this. “Do yourself a favor and enter turn based mode, dash right up next to the turret and then drop it. You’ll avoid getting blasted so hard,” one player said.

You can also turn to your trusty invisibility potions to drop the Bloom at the turrets to deactivate them. Keep in mind that you need at least three Sussur Blooms to get past the staircase leading toward the Arcane Tower, and then some more for turrets inside the building.

Once you are inside, you will find a lever that deactivates the turrets entirely and you can begin to solve the Arcane Tower’s puzzle and discover its secrets.
