Larian Studios introduced a new hotfix that finally fixed a controversial interaction that had Baldur’s Gate 3 fans debating about the true nature of their favorite Drow.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has a set of companions with specific alignments, and understanding their backstory is key to knowing what type of decisions will help players earn their approval. Even after fans discovered a way to recruit her for not-so-evil playthroughs, Minthara was always set as a strong Vengeance Paladin who hates gods that maniacally control their followers.

That’s why fans had been fiercely debating about Hotfix #21, which made Minthara hate the idea of the Durge character rejecting Bhaal, and went as far as to break up with players if they were in a romantic relationship.

While some explained that the Drow does warn players about her reaction if they “reject godhood,” others felt that accepting Bhaal was contrary to her strong beliefs about independence and living without being controlled.

Larian Studios took note of this debate and fixed Minthara’s reaction with Hotfix #22. According to the devs, the Drow’s interaction was “enabled unintentionally” while they were carrying out fixes for the character, and it was never meant for her to end with Durge characters if they rejected Bhaal in Act III.

Baldur’s Gate 3 players who insisted that it was nonsensical for Minthara to act like this quickly rallied on Reddit and praised the studio for quickly fixing the reaction.

“Anyone that supported the change last patch hasn’t spoke to Minthara once in game. She HATES being under the control of any God or higher power, and instantly disapproves when you tell her that as a durge you enjoy mindless killing and violence, which is everything Bhaal represents,” said a player.

However, some fans point out that Minthara loves the kind of power that she’d have if the Durge accepted its heritage, and that the only thing that didn’t make sense in the broken dialogue was that she says that Bhaal won’t control Durge as the Absolute did with her.

“It does seem that this dialogue dates prior to a time where they also decided the ending, and the major plot points for durge as well,” read a comment.

And that’s everything on why Baldur’s Gate 3 players are glad that Minthara’s dialogue was fixed after the latest update. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ RPG, you can check out this House of Hope trick that makes every fight a breeze and how you can get The Blood of Lathander.
