Larian Studios have included a bunch of random encounters in Baldur’s Gate 3, but one player had a ‘traumatizing’ experience as their interaction with the Addled Frog did not go according to plan.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been one of the most influential games of recent times as its story and character design have been highly acclaimed by the community. After a massively successful release and constant positive ratings, the GOTY 2023 winner still seems to be attracting new players every day.

The BG3 characters and story arcs are intricately designed as the devs have included some random encounters throughout the world. One such encounter “traumatized” a player as their interaction did not go well.

Reddit user ‘PassaDelirious’ posted in Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit and explained how the Addled Frog in the Sunlit Wastelands became a major hurdle during their Honor Mode playthrough. They detailed how their party members “got blazed for 37 damage” and killed their friend’s main as well.

For context, the Addled Frog is an NPC that is being tortured by Auntie Ethel in Baldur’s Gate 3 and you should ignore it first and come back to it after defeating Ethel. Only then will it not attack you and lead you to hidden treasure.

However, the OP evidently did not know this, and the community made sure that they would be careful from then on. Fortunately, their Monk “saved the day” by doing a critical attack on the Addled Frog, hinting that they killed the frog after discovering it had Armor Class 25.

“I thought the frog being an enemy was just a meme for the longest time,” said a player as they had a similar experience as well. On the other hand, some players could not resist cracking some jokes about the OP’s incident, as one of them added: “You never f**k around with the BATTLETOADS,” in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is well known for such encounters, and the Addled Frog interaction probably did end a lot of Honor Mode runs thanks to its lethal damage.
