Getting the Memory Shard can be quite tricky if you don’t know where to start looking for it. If you’re ready to fight one of the toughest bosses in Act 1, here’s how to find the shard in Baldur’s Gate 3.

The Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3 has many hidden items across its map, but only the Memory Shard will help you if you’re trying to find the Adamantine Forge.

Here’s how to find and use the Memory Shard in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Where to find the Memory Shard in Baldur’s Gate 3?

You can find the Memory Shard in Baldur’s Gate 3 Underdark during Act 1. To get it, you’ll need to head to Z: 118, Y: -245, near the Selunite Outpost, where you’ll see a drow party completely petrified.

Keep in mind that after reaching them you’ll trigger the Spectator fight, which can be one of the toughest in Act 1 if you’re not ready for it. After killing the creature, you’ll meet a drow named Dhourn who will become unpetrified during the fight.

Dhourn will show you that he has the Memory Shard in his power, but he’ll promptly attack you after a short dialogue. If you don’t wish to fight him, you can use the spell Disguise Self and turn into a female Drow before the Spectator fight, which will even give you the option to convince him to hand over the Shard peacefully.

How to use the Memory Shard in Baldur’s Gate 3

After getting the Memory Shard in Baldur’s Gate 3, you can inspect the item and select the “Use” option. This will activate a short cutscene, where you’ll need to pass an Arcana check to decipher the strange memories the Shard is transmitting to you.

To understand the images of the Shard, you’ll need to use the passcode that Dhourn gives you if you haven’t killed him. If you have, you can cast “Speak with Dead” to talk to his corpse and learn the password.

The Memory Shard will show you the location of the Adamantine Forge, which you can use to forge any Adamantine weapons or gear in Act 1.

And that’s everything about the Memory Shard in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ RPG, you can check our guides below:
