Will Arenas return to Apex Legends?
Many Apex Legends players are wondering if there’s a chance that Arenas will return after being removed from the game in Season 16.
Apex Legends Season 16 brings a fresh update to the battle royale, including a new AR to rival the R-301 and Flatline, as well as a completely remastered Legend class system.
The devs have been hard at work, evolving the game in other ways rather than adding a new Legend. Unfortunately, however, the update does mark the end of Arenas, the 3v3 round-based mode which many had grown to love since its introduction back in Season 9.
This has sparked the question of whether this mode will ever return, which we aim to answer below.
Why is Respawn getting rid of Arenas in Apex Legends?
Apex Legends Season 16 will remove Arenas from the game permanently, as it is set to be replaced by the new TDM mode initially, and then the Mixtape playlist.
The dev’s reasoning behind the decision to shut down Arenas was that they felt the mode wasn’t hitting their expectations and failed to provide the gameplay cycle they intended for the mode.
Ultimately, it seems Arenas in Apex Legends just wasn’t hitting the mark for the devs, so they felt it would be best to remove it.

Sadly for Apex Legends players, it seems the removal of Arenas was a permanent one, as the devs have called it a “sunset,” which was the same phrase used for the shutting down of Apex Legends Mobile.
That said, the devs have often used the phrase “never say never” in the past, so perhaps the same goes for Arenas. If any more information is released about Arenas potentially coming back, we’ll be sure to update this piece so stay tuned.
