Apex Legends devs respond to Prestige Skin progress not tracking

Respawn Entertainment have reassured Apex Legends players that they’re working on a fix for the bug that has been preventing them from leveling up the new Prestige Bloodhound skin.

Apex Legends Season 12 introduced a brand-new cosmetic type known as Prestige Skins, and players who completed the Anniversary Collection event would unlock this skin for the Legend Bloodhound.

Once you’ve acquired the skin, you can level it up by dealing damage in-game while playing as Bloodhound to unlock color changes to the skin, but players have reported that the challenge progress isn’t being tracked.

This has led to a response from the Apex Legends developers.

According to some Apex Legends players, the damage they dealt during the challenge would not be tracked until after they had restarted their game completely, and then the progress would sometimes randomly reset.

This caught the attention of Respawn dev ‘RobotHavGunz’ who confirmed in a comment in the Apex Legends subreddit that a fix is being worked on, but the damage resets are unfortunately permanent.

The developer stated in their comment: “I’m trying to work through some options about how we might restore your progress. I got the fix for the core issue in today and hoping to get it out soon.”

We’ll keep checking for updates regarding this fix, but until it arrives, players should avoid trying to rank up the Prestige Skin, as their progress won’t be tracked and they’ll find themselves frustrated.

This skin is already controversial, as unlocking it requires you to spend approximately $160 by getting all the items in the Collection Event. With this hefty price tag, we imagine the devs will be quick to push a fix for the issue.
