Infected villagers in Resident Evil 4 remake

The Resident Evil 4 Remake brings Capcom’s classic horror to modern consoles, but will you be able to play with friends in multiplayer or co-op? Here’s everything we know.

Almost 20 years after it was released, Resident Evil 4 returns on March 24, with players getting a taste of gameplay thanks to the Chainsaw Demo. With updated graphics and mechanics, the fan-favorite horror game has been remade for modern audiences on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

You’ll need to have all your wits about you to survive against the infected villagers in Resident Evil 4, but can you bring a friend along for the ride? Here’s everything we know about whether the Resident Evil 4 Remake has multiplayer or co-op.

Will the Resident Evil 4 Remake have multiplayer?

The Resident Evil 4 Remake won’t have multiplayer as the game is listed as single-player only. The base version original game was a single-player experience, and it appears Capcom won’t be making any changes in this regard.

While there are microtransactions, the PlayStation version is marked as “Offline enabled” so you won’t even need an internet connection to play. However, we would expect a day-one patch to address some bugs and other issues.

Resident Evil 4 is set to be a single-player-only experience.

Will the Resident Evil 4 Remake have co-op?

In a similar answer to multiplayer, the Resident Evil 4 Remake’s campaign won’t have a co-op mode as the game is listed as single-player only.

While mods have allowed Resident Evil 4 players to team up in the past, the base version will be an entirely single-player experience.
