The PlayStation 5 has been out for some time, leaving fans wondering when the PS5 pro-version of the Sony console will be making its way to stores.

Sony’s PlayStation is one of the most successful and popular gaming consoles out there, often besting their main rivals, Xbox, when it comes to sales and users.

While Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision has certainly reignited the console war up, there’s no doubt that Sony remain in the driving seat, especially as the PS5 shortage is now over. Things may get even more exciting for PlayStation users, as new details surrounding a pro-version of the console have surfaced.

The PlayStation 4 Pro was a huge hit, and with the already impressive power of the standard PS5, the pro-version could be an absolute beast. If you’re interested, here are all of the details we know so far.

PS5 Pro rumored release date

According to Insider Gaming, the PS5 Pro is in development and could release “late 2024.” This is not an official release date, as it is from “Insider Gaming sources,” so take this information with a pinch of salt.

As well as this, they also report that a new model of the PS5 with a detachable disk drive is coming out this year, 2023, but this is not the PS5 Pro model.

Expected PS5 Pro specs

While there is currently no official information regarding the PS5 Pro’s specs, we obviously expect it to be a massive upgrade on the standard PS5. This means that players can expect better performance, fidelity, and ray-tracing capabilities.

This may also mean more FPS for competitive games at a higher resolution. Although the PS5 can output 120 FPS at 4k resolution, for most games this is not the case, but perhaps the Pro model will change that.

As more information is released regarding the PS5 Pro’s specs, we’ll be sure to update this piece so stay tuned.
