Honkai Star Rail released on the PlayStation 5 with the 1.4 update and linking your corresponding accounts is one of the first things to do to get things going. Here’s how to link your Honkai Star Rail account to the PS5, based on whether you’ve played Genshin Impact before.

Honkai Star Rail is now playable on PlayStation 5 as well and the gacha title by HoYoverse has gained a ton of new players since version 1.4. However, it is important to note that the game was available on PC and mobile with controller support for several months before the PS5 launch.

On top of this, there are plenty of Genshin Impact players on the PlayStation 5 and the reputed open-world RPG also requires a HoYoverse account. As a result, it can be complex for players to get started with HSR on PS5, based on whether they’ve played Genshin Impact previously or have switched to the PS5 after playing the title on PC and mobile.

In any case, here’s how to link your Honkai Star Rail account to the PS5.

There are three types of players who’ll need to link their Honkai Star Rail account to the PS5, and here’s a rundown of all three types and the different methods required to log-in:

New Honkai Star Rail players who’ve played Genshin Impact on the PlayStation 5 before

If you’ve played Genshin Impact on your PS5 before, Honkai Star Rail will automatically detect your HoYoverse account linked to your PSN account. This way, the game should load without requiring you to perform any additional account-linking steps.

New Honkai Star Rail players who haven’t played Genshin Impact on the PlayStation 5 before

If you’ve never played a HoYoverse game like Genshin Impact on your PlayStation 5 before, you’ll have to create a HoYoverse account or sign in to your existing account. The next step is to link your account to the PS5 and luckily, you’ll find the instructions to link this account to the PlayStation Network on the screen and you should be able to start your cosmic journey smoothly.

PC/mobile Honkai Star Rail players switching to PS5

Things get a bit tricky for old Honkai Star Rail players on PC and mobile who have now switched to the PlayStation 5 but we have you covered. Just follow these steps to ensure that you don’t lose your progress:

  1. Launch Honkai Star Rail on your PlayStation 5 and start the tutorial.
  2. In-game, head to Account Settings > User Center > Link Account.
  3. Create a dummy account from a new/unused email ID that you won’t use for playing the game.
  4. Close Honkai Star Rail on the PS5.
  5. Through a browser on your phone or PC, head to the official HoYoverse website.
  6. Login with the dummy account you created.
  7. Go to Account Settings > Account Security Settings > Associated Accounts.
  8. Unlink your dummy account from PSN.
  9. Open Honkai Star Rail on your PS5 again and you’ll now get a log-in menu.
  10. Choose the Already have an account, log in directly option.
  11. Use your original HoYoverse account that you played Honkai Star Rail with on mobile and PC.
  12. You should now be able to continue your Honkai Star Rail journey on the PS5 without losing any progress!

Well, this was everything to know about linking your Honkai Star Rail account to the PS5 if you’re an old player, a returning player, or a Genshin Impact veteran.
