Celebi the Mythical Pokemon

A Pokemon player managed to catch their first Celebi after decades of missed opportunities. The trainer snatched the Mythical Pokemon using an old event method and shared their joy with the community.

When it comes to Pokemon lore, Mythical Pokemon like Celebi are Legendary creatures, but they differ from box-art Legendary Pokemon. They have unique stories about their origins, and throughout the Pokemon games’ history, they’ve been a struggle for players to catch.

The mainline Pokemon games used to have physical distribution methods, which have now turned into Mystery Gift codes. In the past, players resorted to running to a specific location or store to get a printed code, to get an in-game item that would trigger the encounter.

Pokemon player finally catches Celebi after decade of wait

Reddit user ‘dav1nni’ shared their “excitement” on the Pokemon subreddit when they finally caught a Celebi after decades of waiting. They said that after missing every opportunity they had in life for Celebi physical distribution events, they finally managed to snatch one.

The community quickly jumped into the OP’s post and asked how he managed to do it, and the user responded with ease. The Pokemon Crystal version found in the 3DS Virtual Console did the trick, and users responded by asking “How did you get it though?”, or sharing their own Celebi catches.

Once the player beat the Elite Four in the 3DS version of Pokemon Crystal, they received a GS Ball in Goldenrod City, allowing them to encounter Celebi in Ilex Forest. This is not only a legal catch, but also an opportunity to use Pokemon Bank to transfer it to Pokemon HOME, and eventually to Scarlet & Violet.

From Jirachi and Shaimin to Celebi and Arceus, many Mythical Pokemon have been distributed through the years. Some users even remembered these events and called them “dick moves,” stating it was “not fair” to expect kids to be able to show up at a “specific time and place” around the world.

Pokemon fans might have lost unique opportunities in the past, but the possibilities nowadays are still present with Pokemon Bank still active, you can also catch a brand-new Celebi and send it to Pokemon HOME.
