Most Pokemon Go players are unable to collect the 999 coins necessary to evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo in the game. However, a Pokemon Go player and his girlfriends were able to gather a large number of coins by using a clever yet simple trick.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, featuring the Paldea region, has been one of the most loved mainline games in the franchise. Naturally, Pokemon Go players were eagerly waiting for the introduction of Gen 9 Pokemon in the mobile game, and they were treated to a surprise from Gen 9 on February 2023.

Roaming Form Gimmighoul and Gholdengo were released in Pokemon Go early this year, but they came with a catch. While Gimmighoul was obtainable in the game, players had to connect their Pokemon Go account with Nintendo Switch to collect Golden Lure Modules. After that, they needed to use these Modules to collect 999 Gimmighoul coins to evolve it into Gholdengo.

Collecting 999 coins is no easy task as they are extremely rare, but it looks like a Pokemon Go player has figured out how to collect Gimmighoul coins in huge numbers.

Pokemon Go players use clever trick to get lots of Gimmighoul coins

As shared by Pokemon Go player Sebastain_Adventure in a Reddit post, the player and his girlfriends set up their Golden Lure Modules on three closely spaced PokeStops, located at a crossroads.

With the PokeStops at such close distances, the three players were able to collect so many Gimmighoul coins that they were “swimming” in them.

Most players in the comments seemed to be completely unaware of this in-game feature, while others said that they were unable to collect Gimmighoul coins as they don’t own a Nintendo Switch that has Scarlet and Violet.

However, it appears that players can connect their Pokemon Go account with the Switch account of their friends. Moreover, the Switch account can connect to multiple Pokemon Go accounts, as a player mentioned:

“So you can connect your switch to AS MANY ACCOUNTS AS YOU WANT!!! Meaning if you have a friend with a switch they can share the game with you. It’s nice that it’s not locked to one account.

Edit, like alt accounts and whatnot. When I get a new phone I should be able to have 3 go accounts with one switch.”

Another player mentioned: “If you know someone with a Switch and Scarlet/Violet, you can link to their game and send a postcard to get the coin bag. Otherwise trade for one, it doesn’t cost much stardust.”

After successfully connecting Pokemon Go and a Switch, you should send postcards from your Pokemon Go account to Scarlet and Violet for five days to get one Golden Lure Module. You can then play with your friends by setting up multiple Golden Lure Modules in closely placed PokeStops as the OP did. This way, you will be able to collect 999 Gimmighoul coins quickly and obtain Gholdengo in the game.
