Pokemon Go players were shocked to discover an impossible PokeStop submission got approved, and are trying to figure out how Niantic allows this to happen.

Pokemon trainers are always submitting new PokeStops for Pokemon Go through the Wayfarer System, but not all of them get the approval seal. It turns out they need to follow really specific conditions to be greenlighted, which is why players get confused when “illegal” submissions get approved.

To add even more spice to the sauce, rural trainers are always complaining about the lack of PokeStops and Gyms in their towns or villages and slam Niantic constantly for discriminating against them. So when this player found out this submission got approval not only once, but several times in the same spot, it was the last straw.

This was shared by Reddit user ‘Late_Program_9371’ who stated: “That’s 6 spots in a very small area. You couldn’t even really spin each one because they were so close. I have a hard time getting 2 spots that are 200 ft apart approved.”

Another Pokemon Go player commenting on this post expressed: “That’s a horrendous fail. How is this possible? It seems like cheating. IT MUST BE CHEATING.” Another player commented: “So that’s where all the rural stops and gyms went,” referencing the landmarks disappearing from rural areas famous issue.

While the problem of illegal submissions getting greenlighted is quite harsh on legal players, it is also possible to understand that in crowded cities, most of the landmarks are also right next to each other, as one of the players expressed: “I saw a screenshot of Athens ones. Like 50 just at one cathedral.”

Players also stated that approval standards have gotten stricter with time and that in the earlier stages of Pokemon Go, it was easier to get several PokeStops and Gyms in the same place approved, thus, creating these “aberrations.”

So there you have it, next time you see something like this in your city, it might be an old PokeStop that got approval before the new submission rules.
