The Pokemon Go Tour 2024 Special Research for Dialga and Palkia is available for all, but trainers fear they will remain stuck on the quest for a long time.

Even though Go Tour 2024: Sinnoh is in the rearview mirror, Pokemon Go players can still take on the Special Research themed on the two iconic Pokemon featured in the event: Dialga or Palkia.

But, with these Legendaries no longer in Raids, fans have their work cut out for them and they fear the worst for the Special Research that has no time limit.

This emerged after a trainer with the username ‘BlazerBanzai’ on Reddit wrote, “I wonder how long this will take to finish,” as they posted a screengrab of the stage (2/4) of the quest that requires players to catch a Dialga or Palkia, depending on the path chosen previously.

The OP speculated that it might take them anywhere between six months or beyond 2025, but a player had some bad news to share: “Next step involves using the special ability from Dialga. That is only known by Special Dialga caught last weekend.”

To this, a few chimed in that the tasks might change to go easy on trainers who didn’t complete them in the event, as has happened in the past. Sadly, a user revealed the bitter truth by commenting: “No it doesn’t change mine is still showing to use spacial rend adventure effect for the quest.”

The situation reminded trainers about the famed Landorus task in the Season of Legends Research, which took fans three years to complete. “I finally got rid of the Landorus snapshot task this year and now I’m gonna have this floating around for god knows how long.”

With chances of the Origin forms of Dialga and Palkia looking slim after their event concluded recently, players hope to see them in Raids in a few months, or when Arceus eventually debuts in Pokemon Go, as one said, “Dialga isn’t coming back until at least next summer. It’s the Niantic way.”

In the meantime, check out what to expect from the World of Wonders season and a list of currently active friend codes you can add in Pokemon Go.
