Pokemon Go players baffled by “not very effective” glitch making attacks useless

Pokemon Go players found a new “visual” glitch that is confusing even the most expert trainers, as type match-ups seem to not be working as intended.

Pokemon games have always packed a heavy strategy when it comes to every type in battle. Many players have struggled throughout the years to learn every type match-up to rule in the mainline games or Pokemon Go’s PVP modes.

The new Pokemon games have new additions to let trainers know if their attack will be super effective or not very effective against the opposing team. Building teams with different types and strategies is key in any Pokemon game, regardless of the game’s help.

This Pokemon Go trainer found a new glitch in the game and shared to Reddit their confusion as the error was making his attacks useless.

“Could someone help and explain why Electric and Rock is ‘Not very Effective’?,” said the OP when sharing a screenshot of this new Pokemon Go glitch. When raiding with a Melmetal, they were using Rock-type moves against a Flying-type, which should have been super-effective, but it wasn’t.

A “Not very Effective” message appeared on top of Noctowl’s head when being hit by a Rock-type attack. “I believe there’s been a visual glitch going around recently. Seen it in raids and gbl,” responded another user to calm the OP.

“I had the same problem with fighting vs rock,” added user ‘transdemError’ when sharing his version of the glitch. “I did a Chansey raid earlier, and apparently Fighting-type moves are no longer effective against Normal-type Pokémon,” said a trainer with the same problem.

“Tera type is Ground? /s,” joked a user who compared the Pokemon Go raids with the Scarlet & Violet ones, where Tera types can turn type match-ups upside down.

Finally, a user jumped into the post and clarified the whole thing: “Its supposedly a visual bug. Earlier today I fought a Pikachu raid using mega garchomp (ground attacks only) and it just said not very effective.”

Niantic might need to fix this glitch, as attacks are working as intended, but visuals do not reflect this, confusing players in the process. For more on Pokemon Go, check out how players think the latest S&V update apparently ruined the game or the active Pokemon Go Friend Codes for March 2024.
