Pokemon Go player gets “insanely rare” catch but there’s a problem

A lucky Pokemon Go trainer had the most unexpected encounter with a Galarian Zapdos, but after catching it, they got an even bigger surprise with a twist.

For Pokemon Go players, the Galarian Birds are some of the rarest and hardest-to-catch Pokemon thanks to their ridiculously low catch rate of 0.3%. This makes them the most sought-after species in the game.

But, when a trainer with the username ‘Toast2Toasty’ came across a Galarian Zapdos, their encounter with the Legendary turned into one of epic proportions! The OP shared their catch in a Reddit post and mentioned that it broke out of the Ball three times, only to be revealed as a 0 IV grab, prompting them to say that “it sucks.”

This shocked fellow Pokemon Go trainers, who said “it’s the rarest, more rare than any other IV” and called it a “trophy” catch. That said, 0 IV species are rarer than 100 IV ones, but they are pretty useless in battle.

While the OP wasn’t too high on the catch, others were taken aback that the Galalarian Zapdos didn’t flee, as one user put it, “Insane that it broke out and didn’t run three times.” You should know that the Galarian Birds have a 90% flee rate in Pokemon Go.

To this, a user added: “That’s like a 1/20 chance making it a 1/8000,” stunning fans even more. Even a trainer who used Roar of Time to extend the duration of their Daily Incense and encountered three Galarian Birds spawns had all of them flee on the first Ball, summing up just how lucky the OP is.

If you’re trying to catch the Galarian Bird in Pokemon Go, you can use a Master Ball for guaranteed capture. But, if you’re not so eager to use a Master Ball, go with an Ultra Ball and a Golden Razz Berry to maximize your chances.
