Stardust in Pokemon Go lets players level up their Pokemon and add new attacks to their movesets. To make sure that you never run out of this valuable resource, we’ve compiled a list of all the methods to get Stardust in Pokemon Go.

The importance of Stardust increases in Pokemon Go as levels increase, and trainers often run out of the item. Stardust can help you level up Pokemon (increase their Combat Power), trade with other trainers, unlock second Charge Attacks for Pokemon, and purify Shadow Pokemon.

If you’re all out of the item or you’re simply looking to increase your stock, here are all of the ways you can get more Stardust in Pokemon Go.

How to get Stardust in Pokemon Go

The best way to boost your Stardust deposit in Pokemon Go is a Star Piece. You can buy one for 100 Pokecoins and the bundle of 10 costs 640 Pokecoins. A Star Piece lets trainers get 50% more Stardust for 30 minutes.

Hence, it is recommended to use a Shard Piece before you try out any of these methods in the game.

Catch Pokemon

Catching Pokemon is the most common and reliable way to get Stardust in Pokemon Go. The amount of Stardust you get from a catch depends on several factors like the Pokemon’s evolution stage and weather boost.

This chart illustrates the amount of Stardust you can get by catching Pokemon:

Pokemon evolution stageBase Stardust amountWeather boostTotal
Basic 10025125
1st Evolution stage 30075375
2nd Evolution Stage500125625

Pokemon Go also hands out bonus Stardust for special occasions:

  • First catch of the day – 600 Stardust
  • A seven-day streak of catching Pokemon – 1800 Stardust

Eggs

You can get Stardust in Pokemon Go by hatching eggs. The amount of Stardust naturally depends on the type of eggs:

  • 2 km egg – 400 to 800 Stardust
  • 5 km egg – 600 to 1600 Stardust
  • 7 km egg – 800 to 1600 Stardust
  • 10 km egg – 1600 to 3200 Stardust
  • 12 km egg – 3200 to 6400 Stardust
You can hatch eggs in Pokemon Go by putting them in an Incubator and walking the required distance.

Pokemon Go Daily Gifts

Make sure that you open Daily Gifts from your friends in Pokemon Go. Each gift can have 100 to 300 Stardust and you can open 30 gifts per day. Stockpiling 30 gifts and then opening them collectively after using a Star Piece is a great way to boost your Stardust reserve.

Battle Team Go Rocket grunts in Pokemon Go

You can get Stardust by defeating Team Go Rocket grunts that hijack Pokestops or roam above your avatar in balloons. Defeating a grunt grants 500 Stardust while beating leaders like Arlo grants 1000 Stardust.

For defeating Giovanni, the leader of Team Go Rocket, you get 5,000 Stardust.

Research tasks and events

There is a wide range of research tasks that contain Stardust rewards. These include seasonal, field, and special research. The Stardust rewards can be different for each research, so look out whenever Niantic releases a new one.

Pokemon Go occasionally releases events that either reduce the Stardust requirement for specific tasks or increase the amount you get from defeating grunts and other aforementioned tasks. Make sure to take part in such events.

Pokemon Go Battle League and Raids

By winning trainer battles against Blanche, Spark, and Candela, you can earn Stardust and the reward depends on the league:

  • Great League – 300 to 600 Stardust
  • Ultra League – 400 to 800 Stardust
  • Master League – 500 to 1000 Stardust

You can visit the Battle section in Pokemon Go and scroll down to find Blanche, Candela, and Spark representing Team Mystic, Valor, and Instinct respectively.

The PvP battles also hand out Stardust as a reward and you get additional Stardust for leveling up in the league.

Last but not least, every Raid Battle that you complete provides 1,000 Stardust. Raids are a great way to add Legendary and powerful Pokemon like Mewtwo to your collection. However, high-tier raids can be quite difficult for 1-2 trainers.

All in all, if you’re tired of catching Pokemon or running out of Pokeballs, Pokemon Go’s combat system can be equally helpful in fulfilling your Stardust needs.
