How to get Mega Rayquaza in Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go players must defeat and catch Rayquaza in Raids then use the Meteorite item to Mega Evolve it into Mega Rayquaza.

Mega Rayquaza debuted in Raids during the in-person and global Pokemon Go Fest 2023 events. While Mega Rayquaza appears in Gyms, players can only catch regular Rayquaza during Raids, but can Mega evolve it when they have enough Mega Energy. We still don’t know when Mega Rayquaza will headline Mega Raids again, but we’ll make sure to update this article with the latest information.

All players who logged into Pokemon Go on Sunday, August 27, 2023, got a new Special Research that grants a Meteorite when completed. This new item is a requirement for Mega Evolving Rayquaza. How to Mega evolve Rayquaza in Pokemon Go

To Mega Evolve Rayquaza in Pokemon Go, players need to teach it the Charged Attack Dragon Ascent. This can only be done with a new in-game item called Meteorite. As we mentioned, trainers will be able to get Meteorites by completing Special Research tasks.

Mega Rayquaza bonuses in Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go players that get Mega Rayquaza are in luck because the Sky High Pokemon brings new bonuses to the game. Trainers that Mega Evolve Rayquaza will get additional XP, additional Candy, and an increased chance of earning Candy XL when catching Flying, Psychic, or Dragon-type Pokemon.

If Mega Rayquaza is battling in Raids or Gym Battles, other trainers’ Pokemon will deal more damage. Additionally, those Pokemon’s attacks will deal even more damage if the attack is Flying, Psychic, or Dragon-type.

Like other Mega-Evolved Pokemon, Rayquaza’s Mega Level will increase the more times it Mega Evolves, improving the other bonuses.
