Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have introduced several new Pokemon that fans of the franchise have discovered. The Paldea region has lots of areas to explore, and of course, new monsters to discover. Here’s all you need to know about the new Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet.

A new generation of Pokemon made their way to the Nintendo Switch with the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Expectations were high for this innovative open-world experience, and despite gameplay improvements, all eyes were on Scarlet and Violet’s new Pokemon.

The hype surrounding generation nine‘s new Pokemon exploded with the discovery of Paradox Pokemon. As with most new entries, trainers also received some new Paldean variant Pokemon from previous generations.

107 new Pokemon arrived with Scarlet and Violet so let’s take a look at all of them below.

Scarlet & Violet starter Pokemon

The three starter Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet are Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Sprigatito. You’ll be starting your Pokemon Scarlet & Violet adventure with one of the three starters below and you can check out their evolutions below to help make your choice.

Fuecoco

Fuecoco
Fuecoco has a powerful evolution line in Scarlet and Violet.
  • Type: Fire
  • Ability: Blaze

Traditionally, Fire-type starter Pokemon are some of the most popular new introductions of a new title and Fuecoco had big shoes to fill. This crocodile-like Pokemon looked to emulate the popularity of the original Fire-type starter Charizard.

Quaxly

Quaxly
Quaxly is one of the new Starters you can choose in Generation 9.
  • Type: Water
  • Ability: Torrent

Quaxly is Scarlet and Violet’s Water-type starter and while it’s clearly adorable, it’s said to have a tidy and proper nature. Since Quaxly is a duckling Pokemon, many expected it to take on a Water/Flying dual-type as it evolves but it receives a Water/Fighting typing instead.

Sprigatito

Sprigatito, the Leaf Pokemon.
Sprigatito is one of the new Starters in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
  • Type: Grass
  • Ability: Overgrow

Sprigatito is constantly attempting to capture its trainer’s attention and its fur is said to be as fluffy as can be. While Sprigatito’s evolutions maintain some of their cute and cuddly demeanor, they’re to be feared in battle.

Koraidon & Miraidon Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Koraidon and Miraidon
Koraidon and Miraidon are the two new Legendaries in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Koraidon and Miraidon were the first Scarlet & Violet Legendary Pokemon to be revealed. They have a larger role in Scarlet & Violet than Legendary Pokemon of the past, as you’ll use their expertise to get around the Paldea region.

Koraidon and Miraidon are the game’s version-exclusive Legendary Pokemon, and as such feature on the cover of each game.

Koraidon is the traditional figure attached to Scarlet, while Miraidon offers Violet players a modern look. Scarlet and Violet’s game mascots sure do look frightening and it’s no surprise that they have the in-game stats to prove their rarity.
