The trailer for Season 12 of Overwatch 2 has finally dropped, and it came with a teaser for a World of Warcraft collab. A few crossovers have come to Overwatch 2, namely One-Punch Man, Cowboy Bebop, and Transformers. Now, though, it seems that Blizzard is turning to their own IP for the next one.

At the end of the Season 12 trailer, it cuts to an empty scene of Eco Point: Antarctica before the iconic Frostmourne sword from WoW is slammed into the ground by a mystery person.

The sword was wielded by the Lich King Arthas, an iconic character in the World of Warcraft universe. It’s not a subtle hint, as the sword is one of the most recognizable weapons in gaming, which makes a collab all the more likely.

As it was used for the teaser, we expect the sword to be a part of the collaboration, but it’s not yet clear in what capacity. Previous collabs have seen special LTMs and cosmetics such as skins for Heroes, so perhaps we can expect the same here.

In fact, we could see Heroes who use swords and big weapons like Genji and Reinhardt to get skins, or even Illari with her sword-inspired weapon. Nothing has been confirmed yet, though, so this is all speculation at this stage.

Overwatch is no stranger to crossovers with other Blizzard IPs, as there are already some skins from WoW in the game like Torbjorn’s Magni and Genji’s Illadin skin. As with other collabs, though, we can expect a possible new mode and brand new skins and cosmetics for Overwatch Heroes.

Previous crossovers have traditionally gone live in the mid-season update, so perhaps that’s the plan for this World of Warcraft collab, and we’ll see it go live as soon as September. Either way, we will keep you updated as Blizzard reveals official details.

Season 12 will be bringing a brand new Hero, Juno, and a new Mythic skin for Reaper. The update will also add Clash permanently, so there’s a lot to look forward to before the World of Warcraft collab arrives.
