The Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year event has returned and is celebrating the Year of the Dragon. Along with some new skins, the Lunar New Year brought back the Mischief and Magic game mode to the Lijiang Night Market map.

Season 8 has been in full swing since December 5, and the Lunar New Event is closing it out. Here’s everything you need to know about Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year 2024.

Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year: Year of the Dragon game modes

The fan-favorite Mischief and Magic game has returned to Overwatch 2 for the Lunar New Year event, alongside Capture the Flag and Bounty Hunter.

Mischief and Magic sees Rogue Kiriko able to transform herself into new and bizarre props that will give Royal Guard Genjis a run for their money. Two teams of five have to take turns hiding from the Royal Guards before time runs out. Rogues can double-jump and wall-climb around the map to find the best hiding spot and then transform into a random prop for the rest of the match.

Royal Guards have to find all five rogues before the time expires to score. They can strike and use their Ultimate skills to discover the Rogues. The first team that earns three wins is the victor.

Capture the Flag is a 5v5 mode where you have to capture enemy flags and bring them back to your base. All the while, you will need to try and stop the enemy team from doing the same thing. Overwatch 2 also has Capture the Flag Blitz, which is the same mode, but the flag bases are much closer to each other, speeding up the gameplay.

Bounty Hunter is a Deathmatch free-for-all game mode. One player starts with a Bounty that you need to catch, and once you do, the Bounty will transfer to you. You can earn more points when you stop players from catching you when you have the Bounty on your head.
