With the release of its Caves and Cliffs expansion, Minecraft added Axolotls to the game which have certain abilities, unlike any other creature. Along with that, Mojang also gave players the ability to tame and feed these creatures. Here’s how to breed Axolotls in Minecraft.

Minecraft is one of the leading multiplayer games in the market that has been known for the expansions and DLCs the game keeps adding to its library. The landscapes, flora, and fauna in the game resemble real-life creatures and elements.

Amongst those, there are certain creatures in Minecraft that are identical to their real-life counterpart. As the game is filled with animals like sheep, fish, wolves, etc. rare creatures are hard to find.

And then Axolotls arrived in the Minecraft island who are underwater mobs living near caves. Players have the ability to feed them, tame them or even breed them to produce Axolotl babies. Here’s a guide on how you can breed them.

How to breed Axolotls in Minecraft

Breeding Axolotls is actually quite simple once you are familiar with what Axolotls eat and how you can tame them. Players use simple methods to breed Axolotls to create an Axolotl baby while others simply use a code.

Firstly, make sure you have Axolotls secure in an animal farm and are surrounded by water. If they escape out of the water, they might die.

Then catch a bucket of tropical fish and feed it to two Axolotls so they can enter Love Mode. Once they have entered the love mode, the Axolotls will create a baby within the next few seconds.

Another way to spawn an Axolotl without having to breed is to use Java code in Minecraft. The following code will spawn a rare Blue Axolotl upon execution:

/summon axolotl ~ ~ ~ {Variant:4}

Once you enter this code, a rare blue-colored Axolotl will spawn that is usually hard to find in the Minecraft world.

Where do Axolotls spawn in Minecraft?

Axolotls spawn in underwater caves in any biome across the Minecraft island. You just need to be near a water body to spot a cave and you can easily find them there.

They can also be spawned in Creative mode using an Axolotl Egg. However, you won’t get the Blue Axolotl using this method as it uses a different code.

The multiplayer world of Minecraft keeps on evolving as the developers keep adding newer content to it. However, Fortnite might be the next competitor to Minecraft when Creative 2.0 releases later this year.
