Tech Trees in Men of War 2 Historical Mode explained

Historical Mode Tech Trees give you access to units that were used in the operation you are playing.

Historical Mode operations are based on real events that happened in World War 2, so in line with that, the Tech Trees only give you access to units that were actually used in those operations in real life.

Tech Trees in Men of War 2 Conquest & Raid Mode explained

In Conquest and Raid Mode, Tech Trees give you access to prototype units that weren’t actually used in the war.

Conquest Mode lets you capture enemy territories on a dynamic map, and the more territories you have to defend, the more difficult it gets. That’s where the Tech Tree comes in, as it will be essential to have stronger units for later stages.

However, Raid Mode is a little bit different. It’s got the same sequential storytelling as Story and Historical Mode, but the battles are regenerated with new maps and objectives each time you play. They also get more difficult as you progress, so the Tech Tree helps with this challenge.

How to unlock units in Men of War 2 Technology Trees

You can unlock new units and specialized forces in Men of War 2 Tech Trees with three different types of XP or currency:

  • Unit Experience: Can be acquired by using that unit in missions. Unlocks units in the same branch.
  • Free Experience: Rewarded for completing missions. Unlocks units in any branch.
  • Currency: Used to buy the unlocked units to use in the mission, awarded for completing missions. Currency comes in USSR Rubles, US Dollars, or German Reichsmarks

Collectable items are usually in purple and can’t be obtained through normal XP.

Once you have unlocked your units, they will go to your barracks. From there, you can drag the newly unlocked units to your Echelons by clicking ‘Edit Regiment’ where applicable.

You can edit your Regiments in these modes:

  • Conquest Mode
  • Raid Mode
  • PvP Batallion
  • PvE Battalion
  • Historical Mode
  • Combined Arms PvP

It’s also important to note that collectible units (usually in purple) are only unlockable by completing campaign missions. Otherwise, the board is yours to play with.
