With the upcoming Halloween-themed events, Pokemon Go is ramping up the spawn rate for many Ghost and Dark-type Pokemon. Trainers are looking to find out about Trevenant, a Ghost/Grass-type Pokemon that sure looks imposing. Here’s all you need to know about Trevenant in Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go players have plenty of activities to complete during Adventures Abound, the twelfth season of Niantic‘s star mobile game. And trainers looking up to the upcoming Halloween event can expect a lot of Ghost-type Pokemon taking over the map.

Among those, there’s Trevenant, a Ghost/Grass-type Pokemon that debuted a couple of years ago during 2021’s Halloween event. This year, there’s another chance for trainers to get this rare Pokemon.

So, here’s how to get Trevenant in Pokemon Go, its PvE/PvP performance, best moveset, shiny availability, and more.

How to catch Trevenant in Pokemon Go

To get Trevenant in Pokemon Go, you can catch it in the wild, but as it has an extremely low spawn rate, the fastest way to get it is to evolve Phantump by using 200 Candy.

Trevenant has the trade condition evolution that allows Pokemon Go trainers to save the 200 Candy required to evolve Phantump.

Trevenant is a sinister Pokemon that first appeared in Pokemon X/Y and belongs to the sixth Generation of Pokemon, and according to the Kalos Pokedex, it is a fearsome guardian of the forests.

Is shiny Trevenant available in Pokemon Go?

No, shiny Trevenant is not available in Pokemon Go. Neither is Phantump, its previous form.

It is unknown when this Pokemon will debut its shiny form, but with an upcoming Halloween event, it could be very close.

We will keep you posted when Niantic announces the debut of shiny Phantump and Trevenant.

Is Trevenant good in Pokemon Go PvP?

Yes, Trevenant is really good in Pokemon Go PvP, especially in Great and Ultra League. It is a considerably powerful attacker and has average Attack, Stamina, and Defense.

What makes it great is its Ghost and Grass-type combination that makes it a consistent counter of Pokemon like Galarian Stunfisk, Lanturn, Medicham, and Swampert.

In Master League, though, its performance is subpar, around the 200 rankings. It may be due to its low maximum CP of 2893, thus, not being able to compete against stronger Pokemon.

Trevenant has many powerful moves, like Shadow Ball.

Best Trevenant Pokemon Go PvP moveset

The best moveset for Trevenant in Pokemon Go PvP is Shadow Claw as its Fast Move and Shadow Ball as its Charged Move.

This kit has consistent damage and can be spammed endlessly to destroy heavy Psychic-type attackers like Medicham and Alakazam.

If you want to destroy Swampert and Galarian Stunfisk, you better go with the Shadow Claw Fast Move and Seed Bomb as its Charged Move.

Is Trevenant good in Pokemon Go PvE?

Trevenant is no good in Pokemon Go PvE, though it has its uses. Its vulnerability to Ice, Fire, Ghost, Flying, and Dark-type moves makes it really squishy against most of the Legendaries and Megas that are appearing lately.

Besides, its moveset is most prepared for PvP, and its total damage output is below the average for Raids. So, you better think twice before picking it for a raid in Pokemon Go.

Best Trevenant Pokemon Go PvE moveset

The best moveset that Trevenant has for PvE would be Shadow Claw as its Fast Move and Shadow Ball as its Charged Move. Turning this Pokemon into a full-fledged Ghost attacker would require it to have at least a score of 10 on Stamina, Defense, and Attack.

Having other Grass-type options like Mega Sceptile, Mega Venusaur, and Meowscarada, it is not worth your time to run Trevenant as a Grass-type attacker for Raids.
