If Wuthering Waves isn’t performing smoothly and you’re experiencing stuttering or lag, here are some things you can try that can potentially solve these issues.

While Wuthering Waves features everything you’d expect in a gacha title, it falls short in terms of performance, as players have complained about many issues like lag and inconsistent FPS.

The devs will be rolling out updates to patch those out. But you can still try things here and there for more stable performance yourself. Here is everything you can do to improve Wuthering Waves’ performance.

How to improve performance in Wuthering Waves for PC

Here are some things to try out that can improve the performance of Wuthering Waves on your PC.

Change your settings

VSync

VSync is usually an important setting to turn on as without it you may experience screen tearing, which isn’t all that pleasing to look at. But turning it off does boost your FPS. So, we recommend you turn it off if you’re not experiencing any screen tears.

Frame Rate

If you’re near or less than the recommended settings for Wuthering Waves, set it to 30, and higher if you have a more capable system.

General settings

Outside of VSync and Frame Rate being the major settings, here are some settings we recommend keeping in check.

  • Shadow Quality: Medium or lower
  • Volumetric Fog: Off
  • Volumetric Lightning: Off
  • DLSS: On

These settings will place more priority on performance than graphics. So, while the game will look less impressive, it’ll play much smoother at the highest possible frames.

Developers have already issued multiple compensations for poor performance in Wuthering Waves.

Move Wuthering Waves to SSD

While Wuthering Waves doesn’t have a steep PC requirement, and on paper should run fine on HDD, moving to SSD will make it perform better than it’d on HDD. Of course, SSDs are more powerful so they’re generally better, and many players do report improved performance when moving the game to SSD.

Update your graphics drivers

Outdated GPU drivers are a common suspect for performance issues, so make sure to keep them up to date. They do update automatically, but here’s how to check and manually update them:

Update NVIDIA graphics driver:

  1. Download “GeForce Experience” from NVIDIA.com.
  2. Open the “GeForce Experience” app.
  3. Click on “Drivers.”
  4. Then click on “Check for Updates.”

Update AMD graphics driver

  1. Go to the desktop home screen and right-click.
  2. Select “AMD Radeon Settings.”
  3. Click on the Home icon.
  4. Click on “New Update”
  5. Then select “Check for updates.”

Other general tips

Outside of the above-mentioned methods, there are several additional things that you can try for a stable performance in Wuthering Waves. These are nothing but general tricks that you may have already tried yourself.

  • Restart your PC.
  • Uninstall and install Wuthering Waves again.
  • Set the Screen Mode to Full Screen.
  • Disable Windows widgets and any background apps.
  • Make sure you meet the PC requirements for Wuthering Waves.

How to improve performance in Wuthering Waves for mobile

Most of what we said for Wuthering Waves optimization on PC also applies to mobile. Here are some things to try.

Players have reported more performance issues on mobile than on PC.

Change Wuthering Waves settings

Lower any graphics-related settings for Wuthering Waves on mobile and crank the FPS as far as your phone supports. On mobile, you’ll see a bar at the top of the graphic settings section, which will tell you if the current preset is too taxing for your device or not. Try to keep the bar green at “smooth” or lower and not at “overload.”

Here are some settings to keep in check, outside of graphics and frame rate:

  • FSR: Off
  • LOD Bias: Low
  • Capsule AO: Off
  • Anit-Aliasing: Off

Check Wuthering Waves system requirements

Of course, if you do not meet the requirements, the game will struggle to give you a good performance. So, just to be sure, here are the system requirements you need to meet:

  • For Android
    • Minimum specs:
      • System: Verison 7.0 and above
      • Processor: Snapdragon 835, MediaTek G71/72 or equivalent
      • Storage: 12 GB and above.
    • Recommended specs:
      • System: Verison 7.0 and above
      • Processor: Snapdragon Gen1+/Gen2/Gen3 processor or equivalent
      • Storage: 12 GB and above.
  • For iOS
    • Minimum specs:
      • iPhone: Model 11 and above
      • System: iOS 14 and above
      • Storage: 12 GB
    • Recommended specs:
      • iPhone: Model 13 and above
      • System: iOS 15 and above
      • Storage: 12 GB

Free up storage

Make sure you’re not capping your storage to keep Wuthering Waves on your phone. The game currently is around 10 GB on phones, and we recommend at least 20+ GB free for smooth performance and also to make sure you don’t run out of space in the next few updates.

Other general tips

Here are some other things to keep in mind for smooth performance on your mobile for Wuthering Waves.

  • Disable background activities for all apps.
  • Do not run anything else in the background while playing Wuthering Waves.
  • Make sure you’re not turning on any battery saving mode, build-in or third-party, on your phone (yes, your battery may drain, but savers do hurt performance).
  • Keep your OS up-to-date with the latest version.
  • Uninstall and install the game again.

That’s about everything you can try to improve the performance in Wuthering Waves. It is a massive game, with tons of activities to do, characters to unlock, and enemies to hunt. Of course, more will be added later, and that will make running the game even tougher.
