Three pirates in Sea of Thieves

Six years past its release, Sea of Thieves is still popular and sailing strong. Here’s exactly how many players play the online pirate adventure, as of April 2024.

Plenty of new players have flocked to Sea of Thieves following the PlayStation 5 release announcement, and it remains one of the few big pirate games sailing around with Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones yet to set anything ablaze.

All that said, here’s just how many players have tuned into Sea of Thieves in April 2024, as well as the lifetime player count.

Sea of Thieves player count in April 2024

According to Steam Charts, Sea of Thieves averaged 8,974 players between March and April, with a monthly peak of 23,712 players. It has an all-time peak of 66,632 players.

Keep in mind that this only includes players who play on the Steam client and not on other storefronts like the Microsoft Store, and it doesn’t account for Xbox and PlayStation either. It is also worth noting that Sea of Thieves didn’t launch on Steam on day one and was available two years after its initial release.

Rare did reveal in their April 17 blog post that Sea of Thieves has been played by 40 million players in its lifetime. That’s across Xbox, Windows 10, and Steam, not yet counting any of the potential PlayStation player base.

That covers everything about the Sea of Thieves player count in April 2024. For more on the game, as well as other similar pirate adventures check out:
