Hundreds of thousands of players are busy completing tasks in Gray Zone Warfare on Steam and the game doesn’t even have a proper release date yet. The tactical FPS title has received mixed response for now, but it is still in Early Access and the developers are actively working on polishing the performance and gameplay.

As of May 2, 2024, over 40,000 people are playing Gray Zone Warfare through Steam, according SteamDB. The developers don’t release the active player stats so we’ve relied on the third-party website for an estimate.

Gray Zone Warfare entered Early Access on April 30, 2024, and became one of the top sellers on Steam instantly. Even though it is still not up there with the likes of Apex Legends, CS2, and GTA 5 in terms of player count, the Early Access launch is still a massive success.

As for the official numbers, developers MADFINGER Games revealed on X that their newest FPS title has sold 400,000 copies.

Gray Zone Warfare peak player count stats

Since its launch on April 30, 2024, Gray Zone Warfare’s peak player count was 66,944. The game touched this number on launch day itself and then the next day, the peak player count was close to 62,000.

It is too early to predict how big of a success Gray Zone Warfare will be but 400,000 Early Access buys is impressive nonetheless. With performance-related improvements and new content, it might end up becoming one of the biggest releases of 2024.
