Fortnite’s Airbending Mythic is dominating the endgame and players are sick of it

In Fortnite, the Airbending Mythic lets you create a wheel of air around you, allowing you to travel quicker than normal. However, players feel that this bending style with unlimited mobility is an issue as it has been dominating the endgame stages.

Fortnite’s Wings of Icarus was replaced by the Airbending Mythic for the duration of the Avatar event. Since traversal is such an important part of the game, it’s no surprise to see that the Airbending Mythic has become somewhat of a crutch item, especially in the Zero Builds mode.

While a few Elemental Challenges require you to use the Air Wheel during matches, it’s become so popular that players who get their hands on it often survive all the way to the endgame, leading to a final circle that’s full of players whizzing around with unlimited mobility.

Reddit user u/mnkymnk shared a clip of one of their Zero Build matches where everyone was using the Airbending Mythic. Although the match ended when players finally started shooting at each other, it showcased one of the biggest problems in the game.

The Airbending Mythic in Fortnite has infinite uses and no cooldown unless you switch to another weapon. In the absence of any appropriate counter like the Chains of Hades, this Mythic item has become a major cause of annoyance for players as they explained in the Reddit post’s comments.

“I had a match that was like that and it was so boring that I intentionally died in the storm because it lasted for too long,” explained one player.

One of the easiest ways to address this issue would be to add an energy meter to the Airbending Mythic which would prevent players from using it for as long as they like, but without nerfing it to the ground.

However, with the Avatar event ending on May 3, and the Star Wars event starting that very day, it’s unlikely that the developers will introduce any such changes for the remainder of the event.
