Fortnite players just witnessed yet another mini in-game event leading up to the opening of Pandora’s Box. However, players remain divided on whether these mini-events should be their own separate game mode altogether.

Fortnite is no stranger to in-game events. Almost every season in this game has either concluded with a live event or has started with one.

There are much smaller events that lead up to these larger events that are important to the overall lore of the game. Considering that these mini-events are conducted within Fortnite live matches means that players have to defend themselves while participating in the event.

This has caused some players to believe that in-game events deserve a separate game mode in Fortnite. Player ‘ITSTHEGUYFROMFN’ asked the community what they felt about in-game events being given a separate game mode, and players chimed in with their own opinions.

Redditor ‘doctoranonrus’ responded to OP and said, “In-game is fine, reminds me of watching the cube move across the map back in the day.”

For context, the cube in the above comment refers to Kevin the Cube, who was a major part of the lore in Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 5, and then in Chapter 2 Season 8.

Player ‘patg88’ commented. “Definitely more in-game events it gives the ending of the season a special vibe rather than it kinda just fizzling out into the next season. I don’t think a separate game mode would feel the same.”

Another player had somewhat of a different opinion. According to them, mini-events could be a part of the Battle Royale in Fortnite, but live events required a different playlist completely.

They said, “I remember missing a ton of live events cause they were at weird times in the normal playlist, so having a countdown and a specific game to enter in the menu makes that much simpler.”

The Redditor further added, “But for smaller mini-events like this that have wider community interaction, I think having them in regular BR works very well.”

‘DrDisconnection’ commented, “It’s own game mode to pick away at chains mindlessly? No thanks.” Although most players agreed that these in-game events didn’t require a separate game mode, they also agreed that Epic Games needed to do more such events in the game.

Redditor ‘c0n22’ also added, “More mini events like this. Imagine some kind if contraption that has a bunch of targets on it and by the community hitting shots it charges the contraption.”

With Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 set to go live on March 8, players are eagerly waiting to see how the current season ends. It will be interesting to see how the developers treat these mini in-game events in the upcoming seasons.
