Fortnite is known for its cartoony art style. However, over the past couple of seasons, the game has shifted to a more realistic look, which is something fans are upset about.

When Fortnite made its debut, it had a very cartoon-like style. The skins and the environment setting didn’t resemble the ones that you would see in other games, or even in real life.

Players feel the art style was one of the major selling points that Fortnite had to offer. As the game has developed, players believe that the game has digressed from the art style they began with.

Fortnite player ‘Jumanji2WasAScam’ took to Reddit to express their opinions about the current art style in the game. According to them, the current art style is “boring” and they wished that Epic Games would go back to what it was previously.

Others also expressed similar opinions about the current Fortnite art style. Player ‘piecopieco’ said, “As someone who has really enjoyed the season and the recent ones. DEFINITELY THIS, they really need to go back to being a cartoony fun game and give more wacky stuff.

“The ball vehicle was so unique we need that back. Along with the weird planes. I’m sure the epic team is filled with awesome talent with top-notch wacky ideas. The OG season shows how much people loved the old Fortnite. I don’t hate current Fortnite, I honestly love it. But we do need the old elements too.”

Another player ‘im-just-vibing-‘ said, “Going back over old clips, the game looked so much better because of that vibrant cartoon style.” Players also added that the post made them nostalgic about the older chapters in Fortnite.

While most players were of the opinion that the previous look was better, Redditor ‘SodaSnappy’ said, “I think both work. Its art style has always felt that way to me anyway.”

Fortnite has been around for quite some time now, and the art style has indeed evolved over the ages. With Chapter 5 Season 1 currently underway, there’s a lot more to come in the game in terms of the lore. It will be worth seeing if the Epic Games reverts to the old art style or includes it in the next OG season that’s set to go live sometime later this year.
