Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is around the corner, so the 28.30 update is the last one before the new era kicks off. Here are the patch notes for the Fortnite 28.30 update, including Lady Gaga in Fortnite Festival.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 may be coming to an end, but the content is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. Players have been tackling the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles event, with rumors of a One Piece collaboration also gathering momentum.

Now, with Season 2 on the horizon, the devs have dropped the last update before it gets underway – v28.30. It brings a ton of content to all areas, including the LEGO and Festival modes.

Here are the early patch notes for the Fortnite 28.30 update.

Fortnite Festival Season 2 arrives in 28.30 update

Fortnite Festival Season 2 is underway now that the 28.30 update has arrived. Following on from The Weeknd, this season’s headliner is Lady Gaga, who has received her own skin for players to unlock, alongside a number of her songs that have been added as Jam Tracks.

On top of all this, there’s also a new Quests and a fresh Festival Pass to work through, featuring huge songs from Nelly, Soundgarden, and more.

Fortnite 28.30 brings fishing to LEGO mode

Fortnite v28.30 also brings fishing to LEGO Fortnite, giving players even more options in the popular survival mode. Just like in the main game, players can catch unique fish that offer a wide variety of effects, from healing to thermal effects.

There are also legendary versions of each fish to track down, with the devs promising to add a way of showing them off in a future update.

  • Can be played in public or private matches – collisions turned off.
  • Season leaderboard keeps track of fastest times.

Electrifying Quests!

  • New Speed Run Kickoff Quests available until March 26, 2024, at 12 AM ET.
  • Completing first Quest unlocks Sprintspark Trail, while the rest earn new colors.

More Improvements on Mobile

  • The touchscreen D-pad has been updated to a touchscreen joystick, allowing for better precision when driving. You can adjust the sensitivity of the joystick in the settings.
  • We’ve updated the visuals of the mobile HUD.

Diestro Comes to the Fortnite Ecosystem

  • Diestro Car Body (has 13 paint colors)
  • Chitchat Decal
  • Lozano Decal
  • Old Flame Decal
  • Sooo Fly Decal
  • Stripes Decal
  • Stuntman Decal

Look Flash with Xenosplash!

  • New Xenospalsh bundle features 13 different colors.
  • Lustrum X10 Wheels also available.

Major Improvements and Bug Fixes

  • You can now perform an Air Roll! Just hold the left trigger button while midair (or the spacebar on PC) and steer to spin through the air. You can also pair your rolls with your thrusters to fly across the track. We’re looking for feedback on this new advanced mechanic, so let us know what you think.
  • Various Quests have been adjusted so that they can be progressed by playing Speed Run, Racing, or both! Quest descriptions have also been updated to reflect this.
  • Further improvements to collisions while grounded have been made when hitting the environment to prevent getting stuck. We will continue to make improvements as needed.
  • Improved checkpoint crossing times, and exposed one more millisecond digit to the scoreboard for more accurate time tracking.
  • Increased the minimum speed to demolish in the air when hitting the front of the car, to match the speed required to demolish when grounded (400 KPH).
  • Achieving a new drift boost while one is already active will now always give you the full impulse for a short duration instead of only making up the difference. This was partially the case in v28.20, but drift boosts that were smaller than the one you had were only 50% as effective.
  • While you’re drifting, your wheels should now visually steer more sharply.
  • You can no longer get bonus speed from a speed pad if your car already has an active stack of bonus speed from that same speed pad. You can still stack bonus speed from multiple different speed pads.
  • Fixed an issue causing cars to sometimes launch backwards when landing an aerial drift after performing a lateral air dodge.

Those were the patch notes for the Fortnite 28.30 update so far. We’ll be sure to update this page as soon as the rest are available.
