Diablo 4 players slam devs for ignoring Minion builds with zero buffs in Season 3

The Druid and the Necromancer are two classes that have access to Minion builds in Diablo 4. As seen in the Diablo 4 Season 3 patch notes, the Minion builds aren’t getting any buffs and players are not happy about it.

Minion builds are some of the build paths that Druids and Necromancers can choose in Diablo 4. These builds allow players to summon companions, which are usually Animals for Druids and the Undead for Necromancers to help them in battle.

However, when compared to other builds, players have noticed that Minions aren’t as effective. Following the Diablo 4 Season 3 dev stream, ‘Justaddsleep’ took to Reddit to express their disappointment towards the developers not considering Minion builds as potential endgame paths. The Season 3 patch notes also indicate no specific buffs for any of the pet/Summoner builds that are currently present in the game.

In the post, the OP stated that the minion builds didn’t have what it takes to clear out the endgame stages in Diablo 4. According to them, the minion build performed well on the training dummy in Kyovashad, but did not work as intended when it came to dealing with enemies in the open world in Diablo 4.

One player said, “Minions are broken and they don’t want to/don’t know how to fix them.” Another Redditor chimed in on the post and said, “The classic risk with making summoner builds good is that they end up too good, and turn into AFK / 0 button builds that make the game worse for everyone. Worse for other classes who feel devalued in comparison, and worse for necro players who get pigeonholed into a non-interactive build because it’s good.”

As mentioned in the quote above, players cannot control the minions they summon. So if Blizzard does end up buffing these summons, then there’s always a chance that players could summon them and not do anything else. That way, players with these Summoner builds in Diablo 4 could enter dungeons, summon their Minions, and then not move a finger at all, while their summons did all the fighting for them.

Another player responded to the OP’s post and said, “I think Blizzard don’t want to make a summoner build too good because it’s easier to cheat. Easier to make a summoner bot that after summons clears the dungeon for you. Botting was a problem, especially in D2.”

Overall, players feel that Blizzard doesn’t know how to fix these Necromancer and Druid minion builds in Diablo 4 without breaking them. With Season 3 starting on January 23, a diverse set of builds are expected to come up. It will be interesting to see if players can make these minion builds more efficient than before by combining seasonal skills and buffs.
