6 Star map in MW3

Modern Warfare 3 players are being treated to a ton of new maps in Season 3, but they’ve noticed that one of the new additions bears an uncanny resemblance to one of Black Ops 2’s most beloved maps.

Every major Modern Warfare 3 update brings new maps to multiplayer and Season 3 is no exception. Alongside fresh weapons like the MORS Sniper Rifle, six maps are being added to the pool throughout the season, but it’s launch map 6 Star that has caught the eye of players.

Following its reveal in the Season 3 blog, fans quickly pointed out that 6 Star looks very similar to another classic map – Raid.

This map from Black Ops 2 took place in a mansion in the Hollywood Hills and quickly became a fan-favorite. Although 6 Star is a brighter battleground, set in a luxury resort at the top of a Dubai skyscraper, players couldn’t ignore the similarities between the two.

“Big time Raid vibes. This one looks good,” said one X user, while another added: “Holy s**t looks Raid, add this s**t to comp.” Players on Reddit agreed, with one player mentioning: “Once you see it, it’s 90% the same layout. Even got the same sneaky spot on the left side.”

One comment even included a side-by-side comparison of their layouts, with the right-hand side of the maps looking the most similar to each other. Raid featured a round area with a statue in the middle, which looks to have altered into an indoor area of the resort which gives way to the pool.

The MW3 Season 3 blog listed 6 Star as a brand-new map and didn’t mention it being a rework of any existing CoD map. However, players are clearly convinced that it at least draws inspiration from the Black Ops series classic.

Either way, the community is impressed with the look of the map and is delighted to see some version of Raid, which hasn’t appeared since BOCW, make a return – albeit unofficially.
